avoid misunderstandings or delays arising from absentee
clients, french working methods or language issues.
French building practices can be quite different for the
English clients and the finish may not be quite what you
have come to expect. The complexities of building contracts
and practices can be a minefield even to the most fluent
french conversational speaker and what you believe has been
agreed can be lost in the nuances of the language.
We had one client who called us in to assist on a villa
build where the finish and services he had thought were
written in his contract had not been met. On discussion
with the builders it turned out that the contract did not
include the bathroom facilities, kitchen or services he had
understood it to. Most significantly there was no
connection to the mains electricity which subsequently cost
an additional 500€ which was not included in the budget.
The delays on the build alone cost the client dearly and
being resident in the UK he was unable to oversee the
progress. We were able to resolve some of the issues with
their builder but additional and unexpected costs were
involved in realising the home they thought they had
purchased off plan.
Expensive delays and misunderstandings can be avoided with
experienced project management. This is a service offered
to clients with existing projects and pre-contracted
builders in place.
Our level of involvement can be tailored to budget,
chargeable on an hourly rate.

necessary changes will be notified in advance and agreed
with the client prior to proceeding.

project management
Overseeing works with regular visits to site, regular
client updates with photographs to record progress and
practical advice. Visits to site can be arranged on a
daily, weekly or monthly basis according to your
requirements. Clearly more frequent visits have more impact
on the progression and quality of works as minor errors can
be remedied before they become a costly change.
Progress
reporting
Whilst not actually involved in the build we can provide
progress reports and photographs to enable you to
communicate effectively with your builder. This can be
focused according to works and we will intervene on your
behalf where you think necessary.
All Project Management services can be scaled to suit and
include regular updates so that whichever side of the
Channel you are, you will be fully involved at every stage
